Appointed Persons First Aid
and
Emergency First Aider (HSE course from Oct 2009)
This course is designed for low risk environments where there is no requirement for a First Aid at Work trained first aider and also for persons acting in a supporting role to qualified First Aiders.
This certificate aims to provide delegates with basic theoretical and practical skills in current first aid. It is designed for employers who wish to provide the highest standard of first aid care to employees, contractors and the public.

It now also includes the 'New Emergency First Aider' as recommended by the HSE, a certificate from this course will be issued by an HSE approved First Aid Company, and is 6 hours training.
ONE TO ONE COURSES OR SMALL GROUPS A SPECIALITY
Course Syllabus
Delegates will receive range of suitable first aid subjects including:
- Aims and principles of first aid
- What to do in an emergency
- Recognition of emergency illness
- Asphyxia - care of a choking casualty
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Assessment and treatment bleeding and shock
- Assessment and treatment of fractures
- Assessment and treatment of burns and scalds.
- Dressings
- The first aid box and accident book
Course Duration
The course is of 4 hours duration or 6 hours for the HSE Emergency First Aid Course
Course Outcome
Successful completion of the course qualifies the holder to act as an 'Appointed Person' in the workplace. The certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue for both courses.
In-House Courses at your Premises
This course may be delivered at your premises for any delegate size group. This option enables the course to be run on dates of your choice and with the content related specifically to your area of responsibility.
